This Friday is the annual St. Baldrick’s game. One of the most hyped up games of the year due to it being a double header and students shaving their heads and being involved in the overall atmosphere.

This year’s match-up is against Plainfield Central. The Wildcats have already seen the Plainfield North Tigers this year and to me the game was just brutal for the Wildcats with a blowout win for the Tigers.. With players like Kevin Krieger or Richie Elias, Central had no chance with the element of dominance.

Krieger has the skill and size advantage over most players in almost any game. Although he has yet to decide where he is going to continue playing basketball at in college, the 6’6” all-star is still waiting out his options for colleges to play at for the upcoming years.

Now when it comes time to talk about Elias, he is the definition of crazy talent with ball handling skills. I have played basketball with Elias and he always made everyone look like fool. Elias stands at 6’2” and is the starting point guard for the Tigers. And with his ball handing and ball movement, he won’t have any issues controlling the tempo of the upcoming game on Friday.

Although the team is coming off a 12-8 record, the team looks to continue their winning season by a landslide defeat over Central. The Tigers are currently 6-4 in conference while the Wildcats are 1-8.

Players like Kyle Speas or Bradlee Mills whom are both seniors, seem to control the excitement of the crowd. After broadcasting many games over the past two years, I have seen many different moods of the crowd. When the Tigers have a huge lead and have some space to play around, that is when the games get interesting because then Elias will sometimes alley-oop to Krieger and it makes the fan section go absolutely crazy.

And since Plainfield Central is at the bottom of the SPC, I am a firm believer that there will be plenty of playing around with the Tigers. If the whole team is healthy and come Friday night to play, the overall turnout of the game will be just as brutal as it was before, but more interesting since it is the St. Baldrick’s game.

But I will not lie, last year’s game will far more impress me since it was North’s biggest game and biggest rival of the year. The game against the Plainfield East Bengals was very interesting because it was neck and neck the whole game and towards the end the Tigers jumped the gun and ran away with the lead and later on took the win for the annual St. Baldrick’s game.
