Speech Team continued it’s season in spectacular fashion with a 2nd place finish at the SPC Conference Tournament this past weekend.
The group finished with a total score of 298, just one point behind first place Oswego.
“We all work very hard on what we do and the rewards are tremendous,” said Senior Jacob Krol, a finalist in the competition. “We’ve accomplished a lot this year, and I only hope for an even more promising future for the rest of the team that I’ll unfortunately have to leave behind after this year.”
The group placed in 7 events at conference. This finish comes just a week after placing 7th overall at the Argo Invitational.
“I always felt public speaking could be fun, but Speech Team opened up opportunities for me to discover talent I didn’t know I had, make new talents altogether, and meet a lot of new kids from schools around the state,” said Krol. Krol looks to qualify for state this coming month.
They will look to build off of this momentum when the group next competes at the Oswego East Invitational this Saturday. The IHSA State Series kicks off February 6 with the Regional Tournament in Oswego.
