North’s choir performed Saturday, November 14 at the ILMEA (Illinois Music Education Association) Vocal Jazz Ensemble at Downers Grove North High School.

Choir students auditioned to be a part of the 32 voices that will be selected from the district out of 9 in the state. The students that passed through the audition will then go on to audition at the state level. The voicing of the 32 voice ensemble will consist of 8 sopranos, 8 altos, 8 tenors, and 8 basses.

The 32 voice Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform Brazil – Rutherford, Alright, Okay, You Win – Zegree, But Beautiful – Zegree, and Aha! – Pentatonix/Marsh.

The Clinician for 2015 will be North’s Jason Hawkins, Director of Choirs. Hawkins has been Director of Choirs for North since 2005, with only 35 students to oversee. North’s choir has since grown to over 180 students and continues to grow steadily.

Featuring the Plainfield North High School Northern Voices, the night will include performances of madrigals, the popular vocal music of the Renaissance, as well as many classic holiday carols and psalms,” says the PNHS Choir website.
