Southern Belle’s Pancake House in downtown Plainfield is well known amongst the community, and it is overall a great place to dine.

This local pancake house is a small chain restaurant with a few locations in the state of Illinois. The environment is quiet and peaceful even on days where things can get hectic. The people that tend to be here are usually older in age ranging from mid adult to elderly. The clientele allows for a calming environment with little commotion and provide a pleasurable dining experience.

People are seated, served and they leave which keeps things flowing smoothly. On a Sunday morning the church crowd will rush in, but wait times are no more than 20 minutes. The restaurant does a great job of making sure those who have to wait, don’t wait long.

While at Southern Belle the service was very good. Visiting on a Sunday typically a day where breakfast joints are busy people are seated and taken care of in a timely manner. The host and hostesses were very kind while the server was very helpful explaining menu items and their ingredients.

The food took quite awhile to get to table, even on a slow day the wait for food was roughly 20 minutes. The food was worth the wait, but it did take awhile to get to the table. The hostesses are polite and friendly and the waiter makes sure the order is correct and tastes well. They were very energetic and made customers feel welcomed. Waiting on a drink is not a concern as wait time was no more than two minutes and all questions concerning the menu and pricing are answered

The 2x2x2 which is a choice of eggs, bacon, and toast or pancakes. Their eggs are fresh, bacon is crispy and hashbrowns have a hard surface and soft on bottom. The price of this dish was 9.69 which compared to other places around Plainfield, like Broken Yolk or IHOP, is fairly reasonable.

They have a great selection of pancakes and crepes at a reasonable price of around 10 dollars but this varies per dish. Their chocolate chip pancakes are fluffy, warm and have a great chocolate chip to pancake ratio. Their pancakes, French toast, and waffles are served with warm maple syrup and butter and jelly packets are on the table.

Along with their breakfast foods they have club sandwiches and burgers that are worth a try. This includes many dairy free and gluten free options. Food was served fresh and delicious.

On the outside of the building is a patio where customers can enjoy their meals outside. The inside is decorated with plants and framed pictures and the front counter is right at the entrance.

In the dining area the restaurant is clean as well as the outside of the building. The floors are clean and the tables seem as if nobody had sat there before. It is decorated with a southern style hence the name of the restaurant.

A rising complaint about the restaurant is their Uber Eats issues. Orders tend to get mixed up or be wrong. Highly recommend just eating there in the restaurant.

Southern Belle’s is easily the best breakfast location in Plainfield. Prices are reasonable, food itself is fresh and delicious and the service is friendly and helpful. This restaurant is highly recommended to all who enjoy a great breakfast and or lunch.
