North’s Dance class held the annual Dance Showcase April 8 in the auditorium. The tickets were $5, the doors opened at 5:30 P.M. and the showcase started at 6:00 P.M.

This dance showcase was different from past ones in that the students and teachers honored the late Ms. Triplett who passed late last year with a dance choreographed just for her. The costumes were designed with a lot of symbolism going  into them.

“This next piece is in honor of our beloved Susan Brown Triplett, whom we lost as a teacher, coworker, mother, friend, and community member this past October,” said Rachyl Stephenson, Dance teacher and Physical/Health/Driver Education Department Chair, before the dance. “The costuming for this dance is representative of Sue and how we lost her. The all white outfits signify her purity, innocence, and light of joy. The purple wings are in honor of where she is now and representative of domestic violence. The lighting colors are blue to represent her favorite color.”

The song choice for Ms. Triplett’s dance was also chosen to represent that people can always get help in the situation of domestic violence.

“The song choice of Charlie Puth’s ‘One Call Away’ has a lot of meaning for Mrs. Stephenson, who choreographed the piece,” said Stephenson. “As a close friend, she wished that Sue knew that she was just a call away to reach out for help. For any of those out there who are domestic violence victims or survivors, please know that there is always someone who is just one call away. Mrs. Stephenson would like to thank Ms. Gliwa for this opportunity, and the students who are beside her as she dances for being a part of such a special piece.”
